U.S. President Trump Will Be at Club World Cup Final

U.S. President Donald Trump has confirmed his attendance at Sunday’s FIFA Club World Cup final, set to take place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

This comes after FIFA’s announcement of a new office opening inside Trump Tower, New York, symbolizing a growing presence in the United States.

The U.S. is hosting the first-ever expanded edition of the Club World Cup and is also one of the hosts for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, alongside Mexico and Canada.

Sunday’s final will feature Chelsea facing either Paris Saint-Germain or Real Madrid, at the same stadium designated for the World Cup final next year.

Trump, who was also present at the Super Bowl earlier this year, is leading a White House taskforce in charge of preparing for both global tournaments.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino commended the U.S. government’s support, stating:

“We have received such a big support from the government and from the president with the White House taskforce for the FIFA Club World Cup and for the FIFA World Cup next year.”

He also remarked, “FIFA is a global organisation and to be global you have to be local, you have to be everywhere, so we have to be in New York.”

While FIFA already operates an office in Miami, the addition of one in Trump Tower is viewed as a strategic step to bolster cooperation with U.S. officials.

Despite continued debates surrounding Trump’s immigration policies and a travel ban that impacts 12 nations, Infantino reassured fans globally, “FIFA is a global organisation and to be global you have to be local… fans will be welcomed to the U.S.”

Trump is also believed to be weighing the possibility of expanding travel restrictions to as many as 36 more countries.

Since beginning his second term, Trump has deepened his involvement in major sports.

He became the first sitting president to attend the Super Bowl and announced in May that Washington D.C. will be the venue for the 2027 NFL Draft.

In addition, he’s made multiple appearances at UFC events, including one last month in New Jersey, and mentioned plans for the White House to host a UFC event in the upcoming year.
