Lagos LG Elections: APC Leads as Vote Collation Progresses

The All Progressives Congress, APC, is currently leading in the local government elections held on Saturday across Lagos State, as vote sorting and collation progress in the 57 local government areas and local council development areas.

Though the election was largely peaceful, voter participation was visibly low in numerous polling centres.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who voted at his polling station in the Adeniji-Adele area, spoke to journalists shortly after casting his vote.

He acknowledged that there were initial logistical delays in some locations, which he attributed to restrictions on movement.

As of 4:00 pm, unofficial reports from several polling units showed that the APC held a significant lead in various areas, including Sanwo-Olu’s own polling unit 006 at St. Stevens Nursery and Primary School, Adeniji-Adele. Other key areas where the ruling party appeared dominant include Yaba, Somolu, Bariga, Ikeja and Agege.

Initial tallies from these zones indicate that the APC is ahead in both chairmanship and councillorship contests, while the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is in second place, followed by the Labour Party (LP) in third.

The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, LASIEC, is expected to release the official results once the collation process is finalized.
