Nollywood Veteran Fabian Adibe, Star of “Things Fall Apart,” Dies at 81.
Veteran Nollywood actor Fabian Adibe, widely known for his role in the classic television series Things Fall Apart, has passed away.
Wizopa reports that the legendary actor died at the age of 81.
Journalist and movie producer Seun Oloketuyi confirmed the news in a social media post on Wednesday, writing:
“Things Fall Apart actor, Fabian Adibie, is dead. Died 2:30 am this morning,” Oloketuyi wrote.
Adibe, who celebrated his 81st birthday in December 2024, reportedly died peacefully around 2:30 am on Wednesday, August 20.
Before starting his acting career, Adibe made history by leading Nigeria to its first Commonwealth Art Festival in 1965. He later launched his professional acting journey in 1987 with the acclaimed adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s Things Fall Apart.
In the series, he portrayed the memorable character Ogbuefi Uzowulu, starring alongside legendary actor Pete Edochie. Adibe’s calm demeanour, exceptional talent, and powerful performances earned him admiration from audiences across generations.
