Gunmen suspected to be terrorists have kidnapped several residents after carrying out coordinated attacks on multiple villages in Kajuru and Kauru Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Kaduna State.
According to eyewitnesses, the assailants stormed Agwallan Centre, Janwuriya, and Afogo villages in Kajuru LGA on Thursday evening, abducting an unspecified number of people who were returning from their farms.
The attackers were said to be heavily armed with sophisticated weapons, SaharaReporters gathered.
Hours later, another group of gunmen reportedly invaded Kallah and Aokpeshura villages in the same LGA, shooting sporadically and kidnapping more residents, including women and children.
Those abducted in Kallah reportedly include 29-year-old Simon Audi, 23-year-old Beuty Audu, and a six-month-old baby, Holliness Simon.
The gunmen were said to have moved from house to house, seizing an unknown number of residents before escaping to an undisclosed location.
It was also learnt that Nigerian troops later mobilised to the affected areas, cordoning off the surrounding forests and launching a search-and-rescue operation.
Sources confirmed that efforts are ongoing to rescue the abducted victims and restore peace to the communities.
