On April 22nd 2026 Chelsea Fc posted on their official website “On behalf of everyone at Chelsea FC, we would like to formally express our appreciation to Liam and his staff for all their contributions during their time with the Club.
Liam has consistently carried himself with the utmost integrity and professionalism since taking on the role midway through the season.
This decision has not been made lightly by the Club, however recent results and performances have not met the required standards with still so much left to play for this season. Everyone at Chelsea FC wishes Liam every success in the future.
Calum McFarlane will assume responsibility for the team as Interim Head Coach until the end of the season, with support from the current Club backroom staff, as we aim to secure European qualification and advance in the FA Cup.
As the Club seeks to restore stability to the Head Coach position, we will carry out a process of self-assessment to ensure the right long-term appointment is made.
