Jim Iyke blows hot, reveals what is killing Nollywood industry

Jim Iyke has criticised the Nigerian film industry, stating that it is grappling with internal sabotage.

Speaking in an interview with the BBC, the veteran actor said one of the major challenges in Nollywood is that some individuals deliberately work against others within the industry.

He said that if he could change one thing, it would be to “purge saboteurs” from Nollywood, adding that such actions hinder progress and professionalism.

Iyke went further to describe those involved in such behaviour as people who “can’t help themselves” and may need help, including therapy, to change their actions.

The actor also reflected on personal highlights in his career, revealing that one of his proudest moments was when his son praised his acting skills and described him as a “genius.”

He said the compliment was so emotional that it brought him to tears.

On the professional side, Iyke named actress Kate Henshaw as his favourite colleague to work with, describing their on-screen chemistry positively.
