President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday slipped during a ceremonial march-past held for his reception at a parade ground in Türkiye.
The incident happened as the Nigerian leader walked alongside his host, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, at the guard of honour. The brief stumble attracted momentary attention but did not interrupt the programme.
A widely shared video of the moment showed Tinubu walking beside President Erdoğan before he lost his footing and fell.
Members of the Secret Service quickly assisted him, and he regained his balance immediately. The ceremony then proceeded as scheduled.
The incident has prompted discussions among observers, who noted that such high-profile events require extra care, especially given the physical demands of ceremonial marches. Many have suggested that the president take additional precautions to avoid similar mishaps in the future, emphasizing that even brief lapses can attract public scrutiny and viral attention.
At the time of filing this report, no official statement had been released by the Nigerian presidency.
